I grew up in a suburb of Seattle, surrounded by trees and more trees. My favorite thing to do with my friends was play “pretend,” which lead to my love of storytelling. My favorite memories from growing up were being pioneers on the frontier, making sure my dolls didn’t get kidnapped by the evil settlers next door. When we weren’t settling new lands, we were sailing across the seas to find a new home. Sometimes we made it, sometimes we didn’t, but we always had several adventures by the time we were ready for lunch.

Today, I play pretend by being Riley one minute and Cain the next. Each character is a little bit me, from the messed-up and psychotic, to the peaceful and sure. When I’m not in a different world, I’m doing my favorite thing in this one: spending time with my husband and two dogs.

Thank you for reading my work.
