Unwind by Neal Shusterman

A brilliantly disturbing novel that explores the horror of humanity’s ability to harm one another. In my opinion, a must-read!

    • Oh so many reasons! 🙂 1) The book kept with one of the top rules always taught to writers- start the story where the story starts. We didn’t need to know Connor’s favorite color, or what he ate for breakfast. The book starts right where he begins going on the run to save his own life. 2) I personally think that books which jump between characters’ points of view and do it well are a whole lot of fun. The reader gets to experience the story in a variety of ways, and gets to see his/herself in a variety of different people. 3) One particular scene toward the end of the book (trust me, when you read it, you’ll know exactly which one I’m talking about) managed to make me queasy, without blood, guts, or graphics. Writing is the one place where when someone tells you “you made me nauseous” it’s actually a compliment! 4) Finally, in my opinion, it’s dystopian sci-fi at it’s finest: great characters and a disturbing storyline that you keep thinking about long after you put the book down….aaaanndd you can’t help but tell people to read it! 🙂
